...aPomaire is a genuine Chilean Restaurant located on West 46th Street in the heart of the Theater District on Restaurant Row. It is named after the town that makes the clay pottery, and used in cooking some of the authentic dishes served in this dinning room. Your host Denic Catalan, is eager to serve you traditional Chilean cuisine with the best Chilean wines available in the New York City area. Chilean fish and seafood are some of the best in the world and at Pomaire they are prepared to perfection. Meat in Chile is usually beef, and Pomaire serves an excellent Beefsteak a lo Pobre, a hearty Chilean broiled shell steak, smothered with sautéed onions, topped with fried eggs and accompanied by Chilean style potatoes. A traditional dish cooked in a clay pot is Pastel de Choclo, spiced ground beef, onions, olives, raisins, eggs and chicken in a creamy corn puree, topped with browned sugar. Asado a la Cacerola, is a Chilean pot roast marinated in a white wine sauce. Prices are delightfully affordable with incredibly pleasing selections.
The menu features delicately seasoned Chilean classics like empanadas, baked meat and corn pie, marinated roast-beef, "cazuela de ave" (a hearty chicken and vegetable soup), mussels in green sauce, and Chilean-style seafood paella. Soft loaves of pan amasado are served with pebre--a piquant Chilean salsa.
Decorated with various artists' oil paintings, rustic lanterns, pottery, and dishes from the Chilean craft center, this Chilean country restaurant sets the stage for a unique dining experience.
